The SKF 6312-2Z/C3 is a single-row deep groove ball bearing with double metal shields and C3 internal radial clearance, one of the most widely used radial ball bearings for general industrial transmission. Its dimensional parameters comply with ISO 281 and ISO 15 standard: bore diameter 60 mm, outer diameter 130 mm, width 31 mm, fillet radius r = 2.1 mm, tolerance class P0, radial clearance C3 (greater than standard CN clearance). It features two Z-type sheet steel shields on both sides for dust exclusion without re-lubrication ports.
Inner ring, outer ring and steel balls are manufactured from 100Cr6 chromium bearing steel, hardened to HRC 60–64. This grade offers excellent contact fatigue resistance, high wear resistance and stable dimensional performance under continuous rotation. The pressed steel cage is made of DC01 low-carbon steel, which evenly separates rolling elements and sustains stable operation at medium rotating speeds.
Key production processes include ring forging to refine internal grain structure, precision turning for near-net shaping, quenching and tempering heat treatment to control hardness and relieve residual stress, raceway grinding and superfinishing. Superfinishing minimizes surface roughness, reduces friction loss and suppresses premature fatigue spalling.
The nominal L10 life is calculated per ISO 281. Under standard operating conditions with clean lubrication, moderate load and aligned mounting, the expected service life reaches 14,000 operating hours. Major life-limiting factors include heavy overload, shaft misalignment, particulate contamination and excessive operating temperature.
This SKF deep groove ball bearing is widely deployed in general machinery, electric motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, agricultural equipment and light conveyor systems. Its C3 clearance design accommodates thermal expansion of shafts during high-speed running.
Routine inspection interval is 2000 working hours. It is factory pre-greased; avoid solvent cleaning of sealed shields. Inspect for abnormal vibration, noise and temperature rise. For installation, thoroughly clean the shaft and housing seat, adopt press fitting onto the inner ring, ensure accurate shaft-housing alignment and avoid impact hammering directly on the outer ring. After assembly, run a no-load test to verify smooth rotation and temperature stability before formal operation.
