The SKF GE17TXGR is a maintenance-free spherical plain bearing engineered for oscillating motion, misalignment compensation and heavy static & dynamic loads. As a self-lubricating rod end bearing unit, this SKF GE series spherical plain bearing eliminates the requirement for re-lubrication, making it ideal for hard-to-access mounting positions across heavy-duty machinery.
Dimension Specifications: Bore diameter d=17 mm, outer diameter D=30 mm, bearing width B=14 mm. Chamfer dimension r=0.6 mm, tolerance class normal grade (ISO 286). The inner ball surface and outer raceway are designed to permit angular misalignment up to ±4°, accommodating shaft deflection in articulated mechanical assemblies.
Material Configuration: Inner ring: 100Cr6 high carbon chromium bearing steel, hardened to HRC 60–64, excellent wear resistance and contact fatigue strength. Outer ring: carbon steel C45, precision formed. Sliding liner: TX self-lubricating PTFE composite liner bonded to the outer ring inner surface, featuring low friction coefficient, anti-stick slip performance and good corrosion resistance. No rolling elements or retainer are used for this spherical plain bearing design.
Core Manufacturing Processes: Steel blanks undergo hot forging to refine grain structure and eliminate internal defects. CNC turning machines inner ball and outer ring profiles. The inner ring receives vacuum quenching and tempering for consistent hardness. Precision grinding finishes the spherical sliding surface. The PTFE composite liner is bonded under controlled temperature and pressure. Final inspection verifies sphericity, sliding torque and dimensional accuracy.
Service Life: Nominal service life calculated following ISO 12240-1 standard. Under standard operating conditions: low-speed oscillating motion, moderate static load, ambient temperature, the L10 service life reaches 14,200 operating hours. Service life depends on load magnitude, oscillation angle, surface contamination, operating temperature and misalignment level.
Typical Applications: This SKF GE17TXGR spherical plain bearing is widely deployed in construction machinery, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment, transport vehicles and automation linkages. Its self-lubricating property and angular misalignment capability make it preferred for articulated joints with limited maintenance access.
Maintenance Guidelines: No grease replenishment required for this maintenance-free bearing. Perform visual inspection every 1800 operating hours. Keep external surfaces clean from abrasive dust and metal debris. Check for excessive play, liner peeling or abnormal noise. Discontinue operation immediately if sliding surface damage is detected.
Installation Instructions: Clean shaft and housing surfaces before assembly. Apply light anti-seize compound on mating surfaces. Use press-fit installation; apply force uniformly on the ring being mounted. Control alignment and avoid excessive offset beyond the allowable angular deflection. Comply with specified tightening torque for mounting fasteners. After installation, manually test free oscillation range; avoid hammer impact which may crack the PTFE liner.
