Technical Datasheet: 23220-2RS/VT143 SKF Spherical Roller Bearing

1. Dimensional Specifications (ISO 15 standard)
SKF 23220-2RS/VT143 double-row spherical roller bearing: Bore d=100 mm, outer diameter D=180 mm, total width B=60 mm, fillet radius r=2 mm. Standard P0 tolerance grade for heavy industrial equipment; bore tolerance 0/-0.020 mm, OD tolerance 0/-0.025 mm. Equipped with double-sided 2RS rubber contact seals for dust and moisture isolation. VT143 heat stabilization treatment enables stable performance under continuous high-temperature operation, with self-aligning capacity up to ±1.5° to compensate shaft misalignment.
2. Material Composition & Mechanical Performance
Inner ring, outer ring and spherical rollers: 100Cr6 chromium bearing steel, vacuum refined, HRC 59–63, high contact fatigue strength and wear resistance. Machined brass solid cage (CuZn40Pb2) separates rollers evenly, resisting high temperature and vibration deformation. 2RS seal lip material is NBR nitrile rubber, excellent oil compatibility and anti-aging performance. VT143 special tempering eliminates residual stress, preventing dimensional creep under long-term thermal load.
3. Core Manufacturing Processes
1. Hot closed-die forging to refine internal metal grain and eliminate shrinkage cavities.
2. CNC hard turning to control blank dimensional consistency.
3. VT143 dedicated heat stabilization plus standard quenching-tempering to stabilize microstructure.
4. Raceway and roller precision grinding, surface roughness Ra ≤0.02 μm.
5. Superfinishing to reduce friction and operating noise. All production links comply with SKF global manufacturing standards and ISO 3290.
4. Service Life Performance
Dynamic load rating Cr=442 kN, static load rating C0r=540 kN, calculated per ISO 281:2019. Under standard working conditions: radial load ≤0.3Cr, operating temperature -20~150℃, full sealing protection and adequate lubrication, nominal L10 service life exceeds 35,000 working hours. Major life-limiting factors: severe misalignment, overload impact, seal failure causing contamination, and lubricant carbonization at high temperatures.
5. Industrial Application Fields
SKF 23220-2RS/VT143 sealed self-aligning spherical roller bearing targets heavy-load equipment with poor alignment and high temperature risks. Core industries: mining crushers, cement kiln supporting rollers, metallurgical rolling mills, heavy construction machinery, port conveyor rollers and large agricultural harvesters. Its self-aligning structure offsets installation deflection, while 2RS sealed design avoids frequent maintenance in dusty harsh working environments.
6. Routine Maintenance Standards
Lubrication cycle: Every 100 operating hours for dusty high-temperature sites; 300 hours for clean low-temperature workshops. Recommended medium: high-temperature EP3 lithium complex grease, filling 30%–40% of bearing internal space. Monthly compressed air cleaning to clear surface dust; inspect seal aging, roller surface spalling and grease hardening. Continuous abnormal vibration or temperature rise over 40℃ above ambient requires immediate disassembly inspection.
7. Installation Guidelines
Pre-installation: Clean shaft and housing, remove burrs and metal debris. Installation: Heat inner ring for hot mounting, avoid direct hammer striking on outer ring. Shaft parallelism error controlled below 0.03 mm; lock nut tightening torque 280–320 N·m. Post-installation: Run no-load test for 30 minutes to check temperature and vibration. Wear heat-resistant gloves during hot fitting to prevent scalding and surface scratch damage.
