TIMKEN 13175/13318 Bearing Technical
The TIMKEN 13175/13318 is a premium single-row tapered roller bearing engineered by The Timken Company, capable of supporting combined radial and axial loads, widely adopted for heavy-duty power transmission systems under harsh operating environments.
Dimension Parameters
Bore d=44.45 mm, Outer diameter D=80.962 mm, Width T=19.05 mm, Minimum chamfer r=1.5 mm, tolerance class P0 conforming to ISO 286, standard CN radial clearance, boundary dimensions compliant with ISO 355 and TIMKEN internal specifications.
Material Specification
Inner ring, outer ring and tapered rollers are manufactured from AISI 52100 high carbon chromium bearing steel, heat-treated to 60–64 HRC, delivering outstanding contact fatigue resistance, wear performance and dimensional stability under cyclic heavy loads. The machined steel cage adopts AISI 1010 carbon steel, offering reliable roller guidance and excellent impact resistance in dynamic service.
Core Manufacturing Process
The production workflow includes hot forging to refine internal grain structure, precision turning to achieve near-net forming, controlled quenching and tempering for consistent hardness, precision grinding and superfinishing of raceways and roller surfaces to reduce surface roughness and operating friction. Full dimensional, material and performance inspections are implemented prior to factory delivery.
Service Life
The L10 basic rating life is calculated per ISO 281 under standard operating conditions with 90% reliability, clean lubrication and stable rated load. Primary factors shortening service life include excessive shock load, lubricant degradation, particulate contamination and shaft-housing misalignment.
Typical Applications & Industries
Commonly used in construction machinery, heavy commercial vehicle axles, agricultural equipment, mining machinery and gear reducer assemblies. Its superior capacity for combined radial-axial loads makes it suitable for wheel ends and transmission assemblies requiring high rigidity and shock tolerance.
Maintenance Guidelines
The recommended regular inspection interval ranges from 2000 to 3000 operating hours. Lithium complex grease is preferred, with filling volume controlled at 1/3–1/2 of the internal free space. Inspection items cover operating temperature, vibration, abnormal noise and seal integrity. Immediate shutdown and disassembly inspection are required once surface spalling, pitting or grease contamination is detected.
